This lovely vine is commonly referred to as a sandpaper vine or Queen’s wreath. Liliacs don’t thrive in this climate, but this is a nice substitute. It begins to bloom in mid-March.

Haven’t seen Queen’s Wreath/Sandpaper Vine, but I think I prefer it over lilacs.
