A few days ago I shared my favorite breakfast treat. Although I love my weekly visit to a local bakery, a healthy breakfast at home is lovely too. This bowl of oatmeal with blackberries and a sprinkle of granola was my breakfast this morning.
I’m not a big coffee drinker, although seeing some of the stories about coffee stations have made me wondering what I’ve been missing. My ritual is tea.
Last week I found this teapot in an antique shop. I fell in love with it and brought it home. It’s a porcelain pot with a silver plated sleeve and hinged top. It was so unusual that I knew it had to have a story, so I did some research when I got home. It is German from the 1930s-40s. I love everyday items that have history so now when I use it each morning, I imagine that an American soldier must have brought it home from WWII. A little dreaming at breakfast isn’t a bad way to start the day!
Omg, First thing I thought was… OMG!!! Look at her vintage cafetiere! I am no joke DROOLING… I have searched high and low on Etsy and E-bay. Hold onto that gem! Thanks for sharing your breakfast. Those blackberries look superb! Mmmm
I just went online to Etsy to do another search for a cafetiere, because honestly Seattle has lovely coffee but has no clue how to make it… here it’s all about the French Press and Pour Over.. but.. the Seattle coffee in one like you have would be heavenly!
Anyhoo.. LOOK what I found!

Perfect Nila! Great price too. I love the look of the stainless steel and wooden feet. Mine has bakelite feet. I think its so interesting that over several decades the design didn’t really change either. It’s a classic! And you called it a cafetiere – not a term I’ve heard before. Thanks for letting me know.
That is darling! What a cute little pot! 🙂
Add me to the list of people swooning over your dishes! The coffee pot is clearly to die for, but I also love the sweet simplicity of your white basket weave China.
Oh dishes! I think because they are beautiful , yet for a practical purpose that I feel justified in my obsessive love for them. The white basket weave are my favorites because they are such good quality and go with everything. The coffee/tea pot was love at first sight because it hit all my favorite characteristics – quality, beauty and history.
Great find Misty! I really appreciate unique items such as this. I use to love collecting treasures but in my retirement I have been paring down… but I can still look longingly and live vicariously through the girls in the neighborhood! 🙂
I’m still holding out for a pink one from France! Lol
Oh wow it seems you and I just love thrift store shopping. That is one functional and nice teapot. I recent scored a Delft Blue plate with windmill motif, a real vintage piece from Holland.
