Spring in the Dining Room

I’ve been slowly adding spring inspired touches around the house this past week. Once I finished the mantle in pale blues, greens and whites I decided to use that same color scheme throughout the rest of the house and on the front porch as well.  Because we have an open floor plan this dining room is one of the first rooms you see when you walk through the front door.  People constantly ask me what it’s like to live in an open floor plan house and I always give the same answer.  If you’re entertaining or having the littles over it’s awesome.  It’s nice to be able to feel like you’re part of the conversation while refilling drinks or plates of goodies from the kitchen.  But you have to keep the common areas clean no matter what because your messes are always on display.  This used to sort of stress me out until I spent the day in the kitchen with my sisters canning tomato sauces. There were tomato peels on the counters, spices on the floor and a stack of aprons ready for the laundry.  We were laughing with each other and telling old stories having a great time together.  It really made me appreciate the beautiful messes that can only be made in the comfort of home.

I LOVE this color combination! So fresh & pretty! Thank you for your story as well. This color pallet
is along the line of what I am slowly trying to achieve in my kitchen. I have blue tiled walls that go up to the ceiling behind my kitchen sink and stove. I have a small collection of white pitchers & bowls that I have had for years, above my kitchen cabinets.. A couple of months ago, I had swapped out some display plates and faux ivy thats been up there for a long time. I wanted a refreshing change, so I added some green glass wine carafes and added clear wine glasses with blue glass stems. After seeing your beautiful display, I think I’m headed in the right direction! YAY! Thank you for sharing!
