Last year, we decided to do the landscaping on the ugly hill on the side of the house so we added our water feature we had been wanting to do since we moved in 5 years ago. I was looking for larger furniture, but I thought our outdoor oasis was complete.
Now this year, we have acquired a hot tub. I have wanted one for a long time, so I am happy with it, but it is presenting me with some design challenges
Any and all ideas are welcome! I am thinking of selling the wicker set, and having my husband build a sectional and putting it where the love seat and chair are over by the stairs? And having a little beverage station behind that where the clock is? The hot tub has to stay because of wiring so I have to work with my arrangement around that.
I am looking forward to hearing what you all come up with!
I love your ideas, Lisa! I think a sectional would be awesome! It would help ground your space and make a big impact! I picture lots of pretty outdoor pillows on it in the summer. And how fun to have a beverage station, that could be really cute and a great draw during a party, too!
Hi Lisa, How cool to have a pergola! I’ve always wanted one too. I think your idea is perfect, with maybe a folding chair or two to pull up the the fireplace/pit with guests. They’ll absolutely love it!
If you put a square frame around your hot tub like this on the front side facing the fire place you could put a bench – the height of the stair in that last photo – only run it the whole front length so it becomes a bench seat & can be used to get in and out of the hot tub. You could even make it a sectional by running another section along the edge the water feature is (it would block the water feature from view while sitting there but the sound is the best part and you can still see it from above. . 🙂 ) Then you could attach a high counter top along the side across from the drink station, with bar stools under it like this one It would give additional seating and also add a place for people in the tub to put drinks down. It would block more of the window though.
I liked what you said too, but wanted to give you other ideas beings you asked. 🙂 I thought it would be fun to try and make the hot tub part of the design. Good luck and post after photos!!
Hi Lisa! What if you hid your hot tub when you are not using it, by maybe putting long outdoor drapes half way around it? (They can even be a sheer cotton fabric to let some light through during the day.) Maybe your husband can rig some type of rod from the beams and then when you want to use or show the hot tub, you can easily push them back on either side. When they are closed, you can put a chair, plants, or some type of display to even out your living space. I also find when you have separate pieces of furniture for seating, they can easily be rearranged when you have company or want to change up your space. Just a thought . . . 🙂
