Kitchen Character

I spent my spring break ”finishing” the kitchen  backsplash. There’s still caulking and finish work to do. (Notice under the microwave. ) I’ll do that someday before we sell it. Probably the day we put it on the market.

I know there are a lot of mistakes, and you can see them in the picture, but I almost don’t care. Almost. I probably will care when we sell it someday, but for now, I‘m just happy that it’s done, and that I did it. I did a better job earlier on, when I wasn‘t tired, or sick of it, or overwhelmed. But I loved doing it. As a teacher, you don’t always see the end result of your efforts. And the work is definitely never done.  But not so with DIY. There is an end result, and you know right away if it worked out or not.  Even with all it’s frustrations, it’s worth it. And turning a house into a home full of memories and character is so rewarding, isn’t it?

I’m a retired teacher Ann so I can identify with your observation. It really is instant gratification when you can see your project coming to fruition right before your eyes and in a timely manner!
