Just for Fun!

Welcome to my home office! My office is actually in our family/media room. It takes up about 1/4 of the living space. This small space it actually a cut through from my upstairs kitchen. . . down the stairs, past our family room, through the middle of my two desks . . . and through the door into our Mudroom. Uhg! Someday when one of my kids move out (Not that I want them too. . .), I can turn one of their rooms into my office. So, this is where I work everyday. I own a small Placemat Advertising Company called, Hometown Advertising. My office doesn’t normally look this organized. My desk is usually covered in papers! But this week I decided to #makeitpretty for you! Just for Fun!

Below is a picture of my computer desk, that is located on the opposite side of my work desk. It’s not really pretty, but VERY useful! You can’t really see my office chair, but it’s just a standard black swivel chair with a cushion and a pillow on it. Not very pretty or comfortable! Someday I plan on buying a nicer, more stylish, yet comfortable new chair. Can’t wait!

For extra storage, I chose to use some wicker baskets as you will see in the photo below. And what would I do without my handy dandy file cabinet! Really, I have so much paperwork that I have stacked plastic drawers in the Mudroom next to my printer. Well…Thank you for stopping by my office!

The area looks so nice and clean! Wow!!! You have re,ally impressed me with how tidy & PRETTY you were able to make it. My scattered papers always seem to just get piled high… Ugh! :/

Thank you Nila! Believe me, on a busy day, papers and folders are everywhere!! But at the end of the day I try to make neat piles because my office is so out in the open. When you walk into my house and into the kitchen, if you look down the stairs, my desk is the first thing you see. It’s not always a pretty site! Lol! 🙂

I love this Maria. I actually started chuckling as I noticed how many similar items I own or have on my list to purchase. I work from home too but use my dining room table a great deal. Baskets, bins, cups and mason jars and lovely candles are must haves for great organization, eh? I want a filing cabinet but don’t particularly want a utilitarian metal one…yours looks just right! 🙂
I could be very happy working in this space!

Hi Maria, I am so impressed with your office space! It’s so organized and very pretty! I would look forward to working in a space like this every day. Your use of baskets for storage adds a nice natural element to your office space. Maybe my favorite part is the bulletin board with what looks like seed packets….I love that! Really pretty space!

Thank you Nancy! I’m glad we have some similar tastes in decorating and ideas! I purchased my filing cabinet a couple of years ago from Pottery Barn and I love it. They are a little pricey, but if you can get them on sale, it’s worth it. I was even thinking about getting another one to put next to my family room sectional sofa and use it for both an end table and some more office storage. I would put a lamp on it and it would serve as a double function in my living space. Maybe that could be an idea for you too! 🙂

Your office space is indeed very pretty and so neat and quitey spring-like. I really like the seed packet decor on the wall next to the other decor frame. It’s all in the details, Maria. I hope to clean up some areas of my house. I am waiting on delivery of two desks bought from a thrift store for my tidying-up chore. If it all turns out well, I mgiht very well share and you know I will be thank to you for the inspiration. Because with 3 young kids, many areas are just killing me now.

Thank you Hahn! This is the only space in the house that I think has a little display of Pretty with the floral pictures and the wreath. I thought I would make it look more Spring like, hanging the seed packets, just for fun! Looking forward to seeing your new desks. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Hi, Maria. I, too, am impressed with the way you’ve tastefully established your office in a very open and family-frequented area. I think the table runner, wicker baskets, iron lamp base and the painted wood table-top storage containers create a very charming, cohesive space that would be relaxing to work in. I’m a sucker for simple ceramic vases and like to place them around the house, just as you have done here, often without bothering to fill them with flowers.

Thank you Jennifer! This space has worked well considering the location. Sometimes you just have to make the best with what you have. I hope your recovering well! 🙂

I love this cozy workspace, Maria. It’s both pretty and functional – and that’s not always easy to do. Lovely! 🙂

You did a great job making it pretty, Maria! I recall having a desk in my kitchen in our first home. It was not easy to keep it presentable. Lol! It’s funny, one of the first things I noticed was your display of the little seed packets, too! Baskets are such a great way to store ugly clutter and make it presentable. What would we do without them?

Your office area is lovely. I really like all of the organizational items that you have on your desk. They are very pretty and they look like they are functional, too! That’s the best. 🙂
