I Did it!

This weekend I made a pillow cover all by myself! I’m not much of a seamstress, but I do have a sewing machine and i’m trying to use it more often than not. I Have had a hard time with my back at work this last week, and I decided to start by using a pillow to help keep me from slouching all the time. But all the throw pillows I found looked hideous to me, so I challenged myself to make a cover for a cheap one I got on clearance using leftover fabric I already had. And here it is!

 I followed this tutorial: http://www.tinysidekick.com/how-to-make-a-zippered-pillow-cover/

The Only difference being that I appliqued the white chevron pattern on top of the other fabric before following her steps. The Chevron isn’t perfect because I drew it myself, but I thought that would give it more character. I’m excited to take it to work tomorrow!

Adrienne, I think the chevrons look just perfect. I’m new at sewing, too. As my first project aside from sewing patches on my husband’s uniform, I tried to sew a round seat cushion. I probably should’ve started with something involving straight lines since it turned out looking rather egg-shaped! You’ve motivated me to try something else.

Thanks! The First two projects I tr were just awful, so don’t feel bad. It seems that sewing is one of those things where you have to do things wrong a couple times in order to learn the right way. We’ll both get there eventually though!
