Happy Thanksgiving, Eh!

This weekend is our Thanksgiving here in Canada. It is a lovely fall forecast but I am required to stay in my home until 2:30 pm each day as it is also election time here and I am on stand-by to work our advanced polls. So what to do while I wait? Write a story!

I have decorated a little bit for fall although I still want to add a few touches. So here is a look at my living room on this sunny Saturday. Feel free to give some suggestions for where to go from here. Happy Thanksgiving! And if you live in Canada, go vote! πŸ™‚

Hi Nancy! Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I didn’t even know Canada celebrates Thanksgiving on a different day. Your home is looking cozy for Fall! I Love the picture over your sofa! And bringing in hints of orange looks great with the blue in your furniture and decor! Happy Fall too! πŸ™‚

Thanks Maria! I get so many comments on that picture. It must be one that has universal appeal. πŸ™‚ I don’t think you can tell from the pictures but it actually is somewhat 3D and has various textures used to create the individual houses. Happy Fall! πŸ™‚

Hi Nancy! Your home looks so clean and cozy! I love your curtains with the stripes! I too really like the artwork over the sofa, it fits the space perfectly. Beautiful wood floors as well! What an inviting and warm home! ?

Thanks Lisa! I changed the entire decor a year ago and this new style is a departure for me. I am so happy that you feel it is warm and inviting as I always want people to feel that way in my home. I have always had a pretty neutral decor and not much pattern so some days I am newly surprised by the bright colour and pattern but it also makes me happy so that’s a good thing. πŸ™‚

    Bonjour/Hello Nancy,
So many cozy elements to your warm and inviting home!!!!
I too am a Canadian…..living in beautiful Que. Voting is an important duty to be taken seriously…. I went to the advance polling and so my task is done.
    What did you teach?
Looking forward to more of your posts…….I’m a newbie here……still trying to figure it all out!!!

Thanks Robin. I taught many things over the years. I began teaching Home Economics/Family Studies but finished teaching Drama and Leadership. It was a wonderful career and I am grateful every day for my father’s advice to go into teaching.
I love Quebec but it has been many years since I have been there. You are very fortunate to live where you do.

Hi, Nancy! I love the colors in your home. The blues, whites and browns make it look very fresh and warm at the same time. I, too, love the painting! The hues and textures set a mood for me, and it actually reminds me a lot of the beach cabins lined up along the windy Belgian coast, casting their reflections on the water…makes me want to hop in the car to go shell hunting for the weekend.

Thanks Jennifer. When I first started to redecorate last year, I had already purchased another large picture for this spot which I also loved. However, when I saw this one I couldn’t resist so I moved the first and treated myself to this one and that set the stage for all the colour choices in my room. Now you’ve made me want to head to the beach! πŸ™‚

    Hello Nacy

Your home is so cozy. Can in self invite and have coffee/tea with you or whatever you have. I am so jealous of people who live in places where they can have real autumnal seasons. Here in Florida, it tends to be just be humid and still hot even in early fall.
