Fresh and Clean (a slipcover story)UPDATE December 2019Happy New Year..I’ve had some questions recently about this story! The slipcovers are still going strong :) Here are some updated photos of the room.

I washed the slipcovers this weekend (just noticed the throw on the sofa could use a wash, darn!) Yes it does take some work but boy it feels great to have a fresh clean sofa and chair.

We have had this Pottery Barn Greenwich furniture for many years and it was still in great shape. Unfortunately Pottery Barn doesn’t make slipcovers for this line.

Last summer we decided it was time for some redecorating in our living room. We repainted, added a new rug, rearranged the furniture and decided to have custom slipcovers made. I searched for high quality white denim, pre washed and dried it twice before a very talented seamstress in my neighborhood took over and made these great slipcovers. They have held up beautifully and wash like a dream. We had a 2nd set of seat covers made, so I don’t wash the whole thing as often.

We couldn’t be happier with the results! Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

She did a beautiful job, but she came to my house to fit the on the furniture… Don’t think she travels- plenty of work for her right here 🙂

Hi Amy! Any chance you could direct me to where you found the fabric? I’m going to take a stab at making my own slipcovers for a couch we inherited and I can’t seem to find a fabric I like! I bleached drop-cloths for our curtains, but they didn’t come out white enough for my taste.

    Thanks!

Ahhh, Dianne, you are so kind. I love a good accesory (a bit of a problem for me)! Most found at T J Maxx and some from thrift stores..the blue and white pot with the orchid was found at Good Will for $3.00 🙂

Jody, we got it at Greenfront in Farmville, VA. They can cut and bind to any dimention you need. Ours was a little unusual because of the angled fireplace but they did a great job. Thanks for asking.

I Love everything about your house! It looks so comfortable and well “at home”.
I have an Arhaus sofa and have found that Ballard Designs slipcovers fit mine perfectly and they are very affordable.

Hi Nila, the chair is from Greenfront in Farmville, VA. It’s a bunch of warehouses with lots of discounted furniture and accessories. Probably a little too far for you! But if you ever head to VA check it out 🙂

I have family in VA so who knows… I might have to stop by and check it out! 😀
If you click on my kitchen pics, my clear schoolhouse shades are mouth blown in WV!

    Hi, Amy

Congratulations on the house. Looks amazing! My wife and I have been looking for a cover to our Greenwich Sofa and Chairs for quite sometime. Do you know if your seamstress neighbor would be interested in doing 2 sets of covers for our Sofa + 2 Chairs? Thank you.

Hi! Looks great!! We have the same sofa and 2 chairs. How many yards of fabric did you need for the sofa and chair? Thanks!!

Nicole – I just posted the same question as you asked a few years ago, about finding slipcovers for a PB Greenwich sofa. If you get this, what did you end up doing?? Thanks!

I have been looking for someone to make
slipcovers for our Greenwich Upholstered Sofa from Potterybarn. Yours looks amazing. Any chance your neighbor will make and sell to non neighbors? I have 2 sofas I would want a slipcover for. I’m very interested.

I’m in the same boat! I have the same Greenwich sofa and want a slip cover for it. Does your neighbor have a website or an email address where I could contact her to see if she’d be interested in making a slipcover?

Amy, these slipcovers are so nice! Did your neighborhood seamstress keep a pattern? I know this was written four years ago now, but I’m in California and looking for slipcovers; I have the same sofa as you.

    Thanks for reading!

Thank you Karen! She pinned it right on the furniture! I don’t think she made a pattern. It’s still in great shape. I would highly recommend getting really good quality fabric and precasting and drying before having them made. I also asked her to serge the seams so they wouldn’t unravel when washing. Hope this helps!
