A Monarch butterfly hatching in October? Almost unheard of in Michigan. But here it is, newly emerged on October 19, gracing the mums, gourds and cabbage in my window box. Now we hope that it can escape our next frost and fly south for warmer weather. Fly, little guy, fly!
That is a gorgeous photo. We saw a Monarch butterly in Brittany a couple of years ago but my photo turned out terrible.
Thanks, Cherie. Luckily, the Monarch hasn’t really learned to fly yet, so he allowed me to get close and take the photo this morn.
Hello Jean,
What a beautiful window box…the decorative cabbage and pumpkin make wonderful bedfellows. …your baby monarch picked a wondwrful spot to spend time….it sensed the welcoming environment!
Beautiful!
Hi Jean! I can’t believe you were able to capture this image! It’s truly amazing!! 🙂
That’s a very cool photo, Jean! He fits right in with his current habitat. I bet he thinks he’s well camouflaged with the pumpkin.
Beautiful Jean! Nature never fails to amaze me. What a special moment you’ve captured here! Enjoy. 🙂
Wow, how beautiful is that butterfly? I love it.
