In February we purchased a small ranch style vacation home just outside of Ocean City, MD. I have had a fun time shopping all the bargain places like Marshall’s, Home Goods, thrift stores, yard sales and reusing some furniture we already had. For the guest room, I chose a turquoise, butter yellow and gray palette. We used a queen bed frame and mattress from Ikea that we already had. I found a wooden side table for a dollar at a yard sale and painted it turquoise and distressed it. The base has a trestle shape. I found a wooden topped metal base table at Marshall’s and painted the top in a matching turquoise but left the metal base as is. I got the matelasse duvet cover at a local antiques store and bought some new sheets, bed pillows and a butter yellow table runner is laid at the end of the bed to add a unifying pop of yellow at the bottom. I found the two table lamps with white bases and gray shades at Target. There is a butter yellow frame with a pelican photo I took in Islamorada. There are various prints from the Internet hanging on the walls. The 3 mirror set came from Marshall’s in the perfect gray color. Best of all, I made the padded headboard myself! I fell in love with the oversize ikat fabric online and it is the focal point of the room. Very happy with how it came out!
What a cheerful guest room! Perfect place for a guest to vacation! 🙂
