Opinions, Please!

Ok, neighbors – I’m looking for a little input.  We’ve been working on the outside of our home for the last two summers (landscaping and new front steps are still to come). My husband is going to start building our shutters and I can’t decide what I want to do about the color.

I was thinking gray with a stained front door, similar to this…

Or something weathered with a painted door (I really like the white door), like this…

I like a neutral, classic palette, so I’m not looking for a lot of color, but I’d love to know which combination you’re drawn to, or if you have other suggestions? Thanks all! :)

A New Sofa and Summer Decorating

Life has been a little crazy in my world the last couple of months, and I’ve been a little absent from the ”neighborhood” lately, but I’m enjoying getting caught up on what everyone has been up to.

We had a new sofa delivered last month (the slipcovered white sofa I’ve wanted for YEARS) and I finally spent some time adding ”summer“ to our home over the weekend.

How do you like to decorate for summer?

Hanging Bud Vase – An Easy DIY

I recently shared this simple DIY on my blog, and I thought some of you might enjoy it here too.  I used antique bottles my husband brought home and tied them with twine to create a little hanging bud vase trio next to the kitchen sink.

Our kitchen is far from ”pretty” but a cute, little touch like this makes me smile when I’m cooking or doing the dishes.  You can read how I did it here (it was incredibly simple to do): http://www.rusticandwoven.com/2015/05/24/antique-bottle-hanging-bud-vase/

#petsathome

I have introduced you all to Alice before, but I just had to share this picture.  This was the photo posted to the adoption website and as soon as I took one look at that sweet puppy face I was IN LOVE.

She’s mostly grown now, but she has brought such joy and laughter to our house, and healed our grieving hearts after the loss of our first dog.  My husband and I do not have children, so she is our baby – I can’t imagine home without her. Dogs are just the best. 🙂

My Comfy Spot

My #comfyspot is the corner of my sofa.

I love being snuggled up in this corner on weekend mornings with a cup of coffee, or on any night to watch a movie with my favorite guy.  Or, as is the case this evening, with a stack of magazines, and a lovely glass of wine.

Hope you all are having a beautiful weekend. 🙂

An Old Picture

I was back in Michigan visiting family over the weekend, and I went through some old pictures with my Mom.  We came across this one of my grandparents taken before they were married.  I think she would have been about 15 and he probably would have been around 20 (scandalous! :) )

I adore everything about this picture – the way they’re sitting, the way they’re looking at each other, the old car – just everything.  I can’t wait to frame it and add it to my gallery wall. Aren’t old family photos the best? :)

Home Office

Most days I can be found here, in my cozy little home office.  I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home three days a week and have been slowly fixing this space so it accommodates both my job and my favorite hobby – design. 🙂

I think I would like to add white painted planks to the calendar wall, what do you think?

Meet Alice

Meet our sweet puppy, Alice.  I was taking pictures for a blog post today and she decided she needed to be a part of the action.  When I tried to get her to move out of the shot she ”hid” under the coffee table.  🙂
