Enjoying Summer Days

It’s now the last few weeks to open our windows and doors here in the Pacific NW and enjoy the sunshine and blue skies. Soon rain, fog and grey skies will arrive. Here at Corner Cottage we are trimming back bushes, cleaning gutters, sealing old windows & beginning to look for firewood. As nights go from mildly cool to nippy rather quickly

Annie is enjoying resting & listening to the sounds of DogTV before mom & dad begin indoor projects for fall & winter. Bathroom remodel begins in September! More pics to follow :)

We have a few more things to do on our summer bucket list like berry picking, going to see a local lighthouse & state park & go digging for oysters which the terriers are great at ! Haha

Josie Kate just won a pet contest with approx 12,000 entrees. She received a gift card and is in the McLendons flyer this week. If you live in WA you’ll have to check your mailbox. It’s too cute!

For those of you not in WA here is the ad. & below a pic of her at the store. This is her 4th time winning a money prize in dog competitions. she is helping earn her keep & fix up this old house :)

I am staunchly clinging to my believe that there’s a whole lot of warm weather in store for my area during September and October. Foolish? Maybe but we haven’t had nearly enough summery warm days and after the harsh winter we had here, it only seems fair. However, you are probably much wiser to prepare for the season’s change. It always comes so much faster than you think it will! πŸ™‚
Josie is adorable and definitely prize-winning stock! Annie tugs at my heart strings in that picture Nila. You are lucky! Enjoy the rest of your summer. I know I intend to! Lots still on my bucket list for August. πŸ™‚

I too love Summer and hope it sticks around most of September. I don’t like doing yard work in cold rain, so my goal is to get it done in August. Rain usually starts in Sept and will end late May/June if we are lucky. According to the news, this year is to mimic the weather of 1987 in the PNW. I ,of course, had to google 1987 and it looks as if it will actually be a little dryer than usual. 1 dry day every 16 days of rain instead of every 19. Whoopie! πŸ˜›
We will finish the bathroom this Fall and then begin to save up for the exterior of the home to be painted by late Spring. Always a project.. always planning ahead πŸ˜€

Hi Nila! It’s crazy that you get so much rain! But your home is so beautiful, bright and cheery that at least you have the sunshine inside. πŸ™‚
Congratulations Josie! A prize well deserved!
And another adorable captured moment with Annie! A photo worth framing. πŸ™‚

Maria, I actually have painted the walls 12 times in 3 years to FINALLY get colours to uplift my mood. I went from living in FL to WA and really felt the effects on my mood and well being. I think I FINALLY have it right! πŸ˜€
Thank you Mary for your comment πŸ™‚

I got the table at TJ Max and it was dark chocolate brown but had the measurements I like. I’ve seen the table several times in Home Goods since I purchased it. I sanded it and applied Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint on it and a coat of clear wax. I bought the glass top at pier 1 to cover it so I don’t ruin it with every day use.

I love, love, love the kitchen pictured at the top with the Dutch door and that open window! Unfortunately, where I live in Arizona, all that open doors and windows would not work with the unrelenting heat of summer. It would work in the winter, though! LOL

Your story is so cute, fun, and effervescent. I am no pet lover, but your dog looks charming. Your kitchen makes me want to invite myself in and make myself teac or coffee. I didn’t do much in home projects because I was away, but I did manage to totally transform my foyer and posted the story just in time before summer is gone. Today is the last day of summer did you know?

I love this room with the Dutch door. So fresh and clean. When I first saw the pic it reminded me of the Northwest. Of course you do live in the Northwest! The summer is heavenly there. I lived in Washington and Oregon for 20 years but recently returned to my hometown on the Gulf Coast:) When I lived there , I always savored summer:) btw I love Josie?
