A New Sofa and Summer Decorating

Life has been a little crazy in my world the last couple of months, and I’ve been a little absent from the ”neighborhood” lately, but I’m enjoying getting caught up on what everyone has been up to.

We had a new sofa delivered last month (the slipcovered white sofa I’ve wanted for YEARS) and I finally spent some time adding ”summer“ to our home over the weekend.

How do you like to decorate for summer?

I love the room Tonya. I’m very into whites and off-whites so it’s a feast for my eyes. The touches of wooden beads are a favorite. Then I also love the textures from the jute and your baskets. I am currently putting new dining room chairs in my dining room which tends to be dark. The new cream, silver and beige chairs are replacing the dark green ones. Fingers crossed they lighten and brighten as planned! Here’s to sunny summer days!!

Thank you, Barb! Our home tends to be dark too – even on the sunniest of days. The white really helped brighten the space. Good luck with your dining room chairs – I’m sure they will be beautiful! 🙂

I just left a message for you on your website Tonya. Loving this summer decor. The mix of textures is so well done. I have been taking a bit of a break lately but your posts have kick-started my decorating mojo! Thanks!

I love your room.. I’m curious where you purchased your sofa? I’m getting ready to buy new and I would love your input

Hi Crystal! The sofa is the PB Basic from Pottery Barn. You can customize to fit your needs – we chose the small sectional in natural brushed canvas. We’ve only had it a few weeks, but so far I am IN LOVE with it (I’ve been saving and waiting for this sofa for many years!). We had a larger, but similar, slipcovered sectional from JCPenney before this one and the quality is not even comparable. Our old sofa was comfy but didn’t hold up very well. The construction on our new sofa is so much better – it should last us many, many years to come! 🙂
